Milky Way Mid-Infrared Spitzer Spectroscopic Extinction Curves: Continuum and Silicate Features

چکیده

We measured the mid-infrared (MIR) extinction using Spitzer photometry and spectroscopy (3.6--37 micron) for a sample of Milky Way sightlines (mostly) having ultraviolet curves. used pair method to determine MIR that we then fit with power law continuum modified Drude profiles silicate features. derived 16 curves range A(V) (1.8-5.5) R(V) values (2.4-4.3). Our includes two dense have 3 micron ice feature detections weak 2175 A bumps. The average A(lambda)/A(V) diffuse sightline curve calculate is lower than most previous literature measurements. This agrees better dust grain models, though it somewhat higher. 10 does not correlate bump, first time providing direct observational confirmation these features arise from different populations. strength varies by $\sim$2.5 correlated or R(V). It well profile strong correlations seen between central wavelength, width, asymmetry. do detect other limits in units 0.0026 (5--10 micron), 0.004 (10--20 0.008 (20-40 micron). find standard prescription estimating C times E(K_s-V)/E(B-V) has = -1.14 scatter $\sim$7%. Using IRAC 5.6 band instead K_s gives -1.03 least $\sim$3\%.

Spitzer Detection of PAH and Silicate Dust Features in the Mid - Infrared Spectra of z ∼ 2 Ultraluminous Infrared

We report the initial results from a Spitzer GO-1 program to obtain low resolution, mid-infrared spectra of infrared luminous galaxies at z ∼ 1 − 2. This paper presents the spectra of eight sources observed with the Spitzer InfraRed Spectrograph (IRS). Of the eight spectra, six have mid-IR spectral features, either emission from Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) or silicate absorption. Base...

Milky Way dust extinction measured with QSOs

We investigate reddening byMilkyWay dust in the low-extinction regime of E(B − V)< 0.15. Using over 50 000 QSOs at 0.5 < z < 2.5 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data release 7 (DR7) QSO Catalogue, we probe the residual SDSS colours after dereddening and correcting for the known spectroscopic redshifts. We find that the extinction vector of Schlafly & Finkbeiner is a better fit to the d...

Spitzer Mid - Infrared Imaging of Nearby Ultraluminous Infrared

We have observed 14 nearby (z < 0.16) Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies (ULIRGs) with Spitzer at 3.6—24µm. The underlying host galaxies are well-detected, in addition to the luminous nuclear cores. While the spatial resolution of Spitzer is poor, the great sensitivity of the data reveals the underlying galaxy merger remnant, and provides the first look at off-nuclear mid-infrared activity. ULIRGs...

Spitzer and ISO Galaxy Counts in the Mid-Infrared

Galaxy source counts that simultaneously fit the deep mid-infrared surveys at 24 microns and 15 microns made by the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) respectively are presented for two phenomenological models. The models are based on starburst and luminous infrared galaxy dominated populations. Both models produce excellent fits to the counts in both wavebands and...
